Din Tai Fung is known internationally for it’s steamed dumplings or xiao long bao. But it is also known for is noodle dishes and appetisers. It was founded in 1958 by a chinese couple who only sold the steam dumplings then. It is not till the 1980s where they started their full fledged restaurant at Xinyi Road. And now Din Tai Fung is everywhere in Taiwan and it is perpetually crowded at all times.

Having tried the one at Singapore, I sort of told myself “No, i shall not dine at Din Tai Fung” but the curiosity got the better of me. And hence, the dishes were presented to me below.

I must say that the taste of the dishes were different from Singapore and in a good way. The fried rice was very fragrant and every single grain of rice is nicely separated from each other. Not clumpy at all. It has the right amount of seasoning and the right amount of wok fire.

The steamed dumplings has very thin skin but still remains intact when you use your chopsticks to pick it up.  It’s amazing that the thin skin is able to contain the soup and meat but yet none of it spills out except when you bite into it.

Service was rather rushed, I wouldn’t say it was bad service though as everything was done the most efficient way. You will be able to get the attention of a server easily should you need something.  I think Din Tai Fung in Taipei has changed my mindset about the restaurant there, but the ones in Singapore still remains as “not going”.
